Lembert Dome has easily one of the easiest and most rewarding high-country hikes in Yosemite National Park. The walk from the Dog Lake parking lot near Tuolumne Lodge to the peak of Lembert Dome and back is just over 1.5 miles round trip.
Only the thin air of the High Sierras may make your ascent seem difficult as you pant your way up the slope. There really isn’t a marked trail. Just follow the cairns (small piles of rocks) that mark the way and you can’t possibly go wrong.[sam id=1 codes=’false’]
The peak is 9,450 feet high and will reward your effort with fine views of the eastern peaks of the Sierras and the Cathedral Range. Lembert Dome is also a wonderful place to watch the sunset. Just be sure to bring a good flashlight to find your way back down.
Moderate difficulty and about 1 hour total time.
